The 47 mm centre distance covers a wide ratio band in a housing no larger than a shoebox, and because the first stage is helical the unit runs cooler and quieter than a plain worm gearbox of equal ratio - efficiency holds in the 94~96% band instead of falling away as reduction increases.
Heat build-up is modest because the helical stage does the fast work: maximum housing rise is 40 C and oil rise 50 C, both measured during factory run-in. The single-piece cast-iron housing at HBS190-240 is bored in one operation so input and output bores stay concentric; gears are 20CrMnTi, case-carburised to HRC58~62 over a tough HRC33~40 core, then precision-ground to grade 6~5.

All frames share one helical-worm gear set family, so a change of frame size rarely means a change of mounting: the S/SA/SF/SAF/SAZ suffixes describe the output shaft and mounting, never the gearing.
Take a 2.2 kW motor at 1420 rpm driving a screw conveyor at 71 rpm. The ratio follows directly: 1420 / 71 = 20, so i=20 fits with margin. In this case the 47 mm frame slides in beside the trough where a right-angle unit would foul. That single division gives the catalogue ratio; the service factor for your duty class is then applied to the torque, and the frame size follows.
